Throwin Bones Band History

Originally started in 2016, we were known as “Strangers With Candy” for a few years. Those that saw us remember that we were a classic rock band playing many venues across the Greenville area. At some point we realized that our band was not really constrained to just classic rock, and, because of our diverse interests, it was really a roll of the dice as to what you might hear next! So, we changed our name to “Throwin Bones”, which is very fitting! We play what audiences like to hear, and because all of us love all the kinds of the rock and roll music that y’all love, you’re sure to hear something that will make you want to dance and sing! And whether you hear us in our acoustic “unplugged” form, or in our fully electric "plugged in" form, you’re gonna hear some great tunes and we’re all gonna have a good time!

You can check out our FaceBook page and other social media links at the bottom of this page. Make sure you check our homepage for upcoming events and shows. We play multiple venues in the upstate and have fun doing it. Life’s short, rock out, hope to see you soon.

Greg Bass - Bass Player

Greg Bass
This old skateboarder/surfer from Florida has a degree in mechanical engineering! And though now retired, his love of music has always been there. It actually wasn’t until 2015 that he realized he had a passion for playing bass guitar. Up until that point he was just recording some covers and coming up with some songs of his own. Nowadays if he’s not holding down the low-end with Throwin Bones, you’ll find him pursuing his other passions, such as scuba diving, BBQ-ing, travelling, and chilling with his wife and dogs!

Scott Sciore - Drummer

Scott Sciore
Scott has always loved playing drums and has been insprired by many great drummers throughout rock history, a list of drummers too long, to mention. He feels all rock music lovers know the common cast of drumming characters, whose personalities were only outshined by their drive and talent. For Scott, playing drums in a rock band is the shit. He thinks jamming and rockin out with his band brothers is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Ben Crumley - Guitarist

Ben Crumley
A Greenville native and part of the Upstate music scene for over 30 years, Ben has been a guitarist for acts like Lickety-Split, D.C.Trixx, Belligerent Four, and most recently as lead singer and backing guitar for Barcode (a 90's-2000's cover band). Music has been a passion for him since a very early age.

Frank Neiger - Guitarist

Frank Neiger
Music and guitar have been an integrel part of his life for over 50 years. It has enriched his life beyond measure and has provided the ultimate escape. He grew up on radio’s Classic Rock, Pop and R&B but appreciates and enjoys all genres. For him the live full band element is where it’s at! As the newest member of the band Frank is thrilled to be a part of this talented, rockin’ fun loving group!

As a side note: a couple of remarkable moments for Frank related to music...
Frank received a mini lesson (at 2am in the Hampton Inn parking lot in Myrtle Beach) on fret board harmonics from world renowned rock guitar instrumentalist Joe Satriani. He was also Paul McCartney’s “body guard” for 3 hours. Ask him about it some time. Rock on!
